LEGO Atari 2600 Set Details
This set might not be for everyone as it’s reported to cost a steep 239.99 EUR. Pricing in other regions is yet to be confirmed, but we’ll guess and say that you’re looking at a retail price of 239.99 USD in the U.S. That is, if you get your hands on one. The set is reported to include a staggering 2,532 parts and is expected to release on August 1, 2022. But that’s not all, as the set has some pretty intriguing pieces included as well. The LEGO Atari 2600 is reported to come with 3 cartridges that feature the iconic games Asteroids, Adventure, and Centipede. But how do you play video games on plastic components? Well, they have been converted into small 8 x 8 vignettes to match the respective games’ themes. To make things a whole lot more exciting, owners will be able to remove the upper housing of the Atari LEGO set to reveal an interesting scene within the console. Talk about dedication! Inside the console, you’ll get to see your typical 1980s household featuring a Minifigure sitting on the floor playing with an Atari Joystick in his hand. The Minifigure will be playing Asteroids on a TV Tube. Inside the LEGO set, you’ll see another mini Atari. To spice things up, the set will also feature various posters hanging from the adjacent walls. In addition, the Atari 2600 LEGO set contains a mini ghetto blaster, an old-school telephone, and, to add a bit of pizzazz, a small white cat.
The Mighty Bowser Set
If you’re interested in LEGO and videogames, we’ve got another surprise for you. It appears that LEGO and Nintendo have collaborated on another project to give us their Mighty Bowser set, which will retail for a whopping 270 EUR or 270 USD. LEGO and Nintendo have put a lot of effort into the Mighty Bowser, which pretty much justifies the $270 price tag. The set features a very large Bowser that has its very own platform with pillars shooting LEGO flames into the sky. That sounds quite underwhelming, considering the $270 price tag but get this. The figure features adjustable arms and legs. The sides of the shell houses buttons that allow users to manipulate the back and forth movements of the head. A trigger allows users to open and close Bowser’s mouth. Pull the trigger far enough, and Bowser shoots a fireball from his mouth, which is pretty cool if you ask us. The legs and tail of the figure have loose joints. When you lift the figure up, Bowser brings his legs and tail close together, which makes it seem like he’s jumping in the air. The shell, the fingers, the horns, and the 3x3x3 spikes on the shell were all custom-made for the Bowser figure, but everything else was sourced from cars and other LEGO machinery. But what about integration with other Super Mario Sets? That’s where Didier Agani, the Senior Play Designer for LEGO Super Mario, came in.
Lego Super Mario Figures will get updates that allow them to interact with the Mighty Bowser Set. Just prop the LEGO Mario figure on the platform, and a Bowser Alert Icon will pop up on Mario’s body display. When Mario stomps on Bowser’s body, you’ll hear a sound effect that indicates Bowser is taking damage. The set will release on October 1, 2022, and will consist of a total of 2,807 pieces. The figure includes points of articulation, controllable movements, and the ability to launch a single fireball. Fans are pretty excited about both LEGO sets, but the big question is? Will fans get their hands on them for retail, or will they have to pay resale prices on eBay?
