The game’s executive producer Fleur Marty shared on the Gotham Knights’ discord server that the game will be capped at 30 FPS for consoles. They blamed the highly-detailed open world and co-op features of the game; Gotham Knights is a hardware-demanding game and requires top-of-the-line components for a smooth experience. It was confirmed recently that Gotham Knights requires a GTX 1660 Ti for 1080p 60FPS at low settings while addressing its minimum PC requirements. For this reason, our game does not have a performance/quality toggle option and will run at 30FPS on consoles.” Still, this is a bizarre move by WB. In the era of 60 FPS, 1080p being the minimum settings on latest consoles, capping a game at 30 fps is just underutilizing the latest tech. However, this is not the first time Warner Bros. made major changes regarding Gotham Knights. In May, Warner Bros. revealed that they are scrapping the idea of bringing the game to last-gen consoles. They said this would help developers improve the game’s visuals and graphics. In addition, only next-gen hardware focus would provide developers with room to explore and expand the game while making it more detailed and visually appealing, according to WB. Fans criticized them for this move, but they were still optimistic about the game. Fans believed that it would improve the gamer’s experience on the latest hardware. However, fans are not happy with this recent decision to not add a performance/quality toggle despite the reasons given by WB. Gotham Knights will be released on 21st October 2022 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. These confusions regarding the game’s performance and how these changes would affect the game can only be cleared once the game is released.
