All antivirus software monitors your computer at runtime and is constantly checking for any discrepancies or viruses. If you try to run some application/service and the antivirus software doesn’t either accept the action or recognize it, it will pop up the error under discussion.

So what this does error actually mean? The antivirus software readily copies the name of the application/service and starts another dummy instance. Because the dummy instance is already running, the application/service cannot run because of the same name. This is a good strategy and works in numerous cases to save you from malware and viruses. However, if you are installing or running a legit application, this will seem no more than an annoying error condition because of which you are unable to perform all your work.

Solution: Disable Antivirus

In order to make the error message go away, we will disable your antivirus temporarily and see if this fixes the problem at hand. This error was primarily seen with Avast antivirus.
